	That's probably Slack following the filesystem standard. Some other
distros put GNOME (and KDE and similar) stuff in /usr rather than in /opt
where it belongs. Because, for some unfathomable reason, these other distros
are more popular than Slack packages get build with poor defaults.
Investigate the options to /configure (use --help | less to list; problably
something like --with-gnome-libs=/opt/gnome) or post the last dozen lines of
the failed make - we'll see if it's something straightforward like this.
