[LUNI] smbprint

I am trying to get smbprint to access a printer on my
windows 98 machine. O'reilly tells me to add an entry
for the remote printer in /etc/printcap. The global
parameter load printers = yes. As I understand this is
supposed to cause samba to create and load shares for
the printers. When I enter the information in the
printcap file it looks fine. However, if I
cat /etc/printcap all that shows up is the original
entry of lp: I go back to edit and the information that
I entered is still there. I rebooted the linux machine
thinking that this would recognize the information on
the remote printer. However, rebooting caused the
information that I had entered to be deleted. I tried
changing the permissions on the file. I got cat to work
but rebooting still deleted the information that I had
entered.

Any ideas as to correct this or where to find
information on trouble shooting this problem would be
appreciated.

smbclient works at least to access the disks on my
microsoft computers and to list the directories and
files on the disks. I have not tried to go beyond that.

My ms98 machine can store files on the linux machine and
read these back and use them.

My distro is Mandrake 8.0 and samba is version 2.0.7.
