I think you want the "Intellimouse PS/2" protocol setting.  Despite the
name, it works fine with at least a couple non-MS, >2 button, PS/2 mice. 
Here's the mouse section for one, a cheap scroll mouse I happen to have
ready to hand:

### PS/2 mouse, two buttons plus wheel
        Protocol        "IMPS/2"
        Device          "/dev/psaux"
        Buttons         5
        ZAxisMapping    4 5
        Resolution      250

Of course, this does work just fine with actual Intellimices, too.  :-)
