Nope. There are a couple of tricks to booting off of floppy. One involvs
bootstrapping a network install, basically
(assuming you have no CDRom at all)
1. boot off of a third party boot disk
2. get network up and running
3. partition hard disk, with at least one spare partition (you can reclaim it
later)
4. copy the stage1 tbz2 file onto the spare partition
5. create filesystems, mount /mnt/gentoo and /mnt/gentoo/boot as you normally
would, mount spare partition somewhere, cd to /mnt/gentoo and untar the
stage1 tbz2.
6. chroot into /mnt/gentoo as per the install instructions
7. proceed as usual, from the installation step just after the chroot command.
