Thanks, Richard.  Both my curiosity and my more serious concerns are quite
satisfied.  As I said, I wanted to raise those points to make sure you had
thought about them - over the years I've seen some very nice systems that
turned into albatrosses because, despite solving the company's processing
problem beautifully, they cost far more than they were ever worth.  I've
also seen some very succesful systems; they all, come to think of it, were
done in stages, though out of necessity, not because anyone had a cunning
plan to do it that way.
