[LUNI] problems with wlan-ng on RH 7.x

I'm trying to get my desktop to work with my D-Link 650WCF card.  I have
it in a Type-II CF card adapter card and that's slipped into a PCMCIA/PCI
adapter card.

I was running RH 7.2 with a full installation.  I loaded the wlan-ng
0.1.10 RPM but saw there were unresolved symbols in all of the *.o files
according to depmod.  This is very weird since I used the same RPM on my
laptop also running RH 7.2 (with a typical laptop install) and it works
great.

So, today I upgraded to RH 7.3 and tried the 0.1.14 RPMs.  I still get
this unresolved symbols.  Would anyone know what I'm missing?  There's
nothing in the documentation to suggest I would need anything beyond the
RPMs.  Is there perhaps a better set of wireless drivers out there?  The
wlan stuff looks like it is pretty sloppy.  I've also used their source
and compiled, but there are always plenty of compile problems with
it.  Personally, if I have to spend more than 30min trying to force
something to install, I look for something else.
