To answer your question, it's not horrible *structure* at all - not unless
you're dead set on casting off the chains of a few decades of structured
programming research and practice. What he called it was "bad style", which
is to say that it's not to his taste. De gustibus non est disputandum, but
it is a really good idea to decide on a single shared style when a group of
more than one is working on a body of code. But without that sort of shared
context, any statement about good or bad style is likely to be 99% opinion.
I strive for 98% or better, myself. :-)
