Only 3 years?  Whatever the number, that episode was slightly before I
drifted onto this list, so I have no memory of it.  I gather that this is
not a thing I need to regret even a little bit.  :-)

I have to agree that you don't make a habit of jumping on people in general. 
My impression is that you have been making a habit of jumping on Jim, for no
obvious reason adequate to explain your vehemence.  What makes it seem even
odder is that you've not been shy about advertising services you (?) had on
offer from time to time.

In terms of utility rather than dollars, I can spend "nothing"
(which to a first approximation is the value of a dollar out of my
weekly budget) to get a non-zero chance of completely changing my
life.  Or, in yet other terms, I can just wait for them to send me
the check by mistake, which can't be *that* much less likely than
