[LUNI] Stores that sell Macs/OS X

I'm hearing great things about OS X. Specifically that it will be
*the* UNIX for the desktop. [1]
Has anyone played with it?
Can they tell me what is so better about the OS X GUI over KDE?
Are there are still stores where I can go play with Macs to see for
myself?

[1] I don't think that OS X will ever by the UNIX because Jobs won't 
let it be. Instead of porting to x86 machines and allowing clones, he
want to use OS X to sell expensive machines.
