Indeed. My understanding is that blackbox is no longer being developed (could be totally ignorant here), and so a few branches have formed. Fluxbox is one- it's very similar, but with a few more features. For example, minimized windows are visible in the bottom status bar, you can group programs together with tabs, and WM dockapp compatibility. You can even directly import your BB themes. Another is Waimea, which is pretty different and still in development. I don't remember if Waimea is based on BB code, or if it's just a workalike.
