Sounds a lot like Linux Island. Are they still around?

Subject: [LUNI] OT: Scam Company
I just wanted to give all you a heads up on a scam company
operating here in downtown Chicago. The company is ISCS and
they got my resume off monster.
Here's how the scam goes...
You go in for the first interview, which is a group interview
and personality test. They tell you very little about the
company and what they do.
Then at the second interview (1 on 1 this time), they say you
have to front $450 for their training course (to check the
seriousness of the candidate, but you may not even qualify to
get it back). That's enough right there to tell you it's a
scam. But then you have to pass an exam after the training to
be hired on to ISCS.
Luckily, I found the newsgroup discussion before I went to
the second interview, but others may not be so lucky. But
even if I hadn't found it, there's no way I would have fallen
for that one.
If you want more info, check google groups here:
Hopefully that won't get too mangled.
(Or just search for "iscs chicago" in groups.google.com)
