15 years as a SysAdmin has taught me to concern myself
with things not working. Even things that work eventually
fail, and what you do with them then is most of the issue.
ext3, for example, can pretend to be an ext2 system in case
of emergency and be fsck-ed if the journal is fried. I do
not know if/what reiserfs has today for dealing with such
situations. I am not trying to say that ext3 is bad, evil,
or nasty, just that journalling filesystems have their own
foibles and are not complete protection from disasters.
