I'm sure you already know about this, but the crossover plugin from
codeweavers runs shockwave really well.  It was well worth the money
for quicktime and shockwave if you finding yourself needing them.

It doesn't really answer your question, as I'm not sure what the
answer is to getting companies to support linux.  I've been wondering
the same thing for years.  Time and patience and education are the
tools i use.
