[LUNI] Using (Debian) Unstable packages in WoodyMichael Knoop mknoop at uic.eduMon Jun 2 15:35:08 CDT 2003
There is an unofficial archive of deb packages, some of which are sarge or unstable program versions back ported to woody(stable) <http://www.apt-get.org/> So, you might want to check there to see if your programs have already been back ported for you. I got a more current version of cdrecord and xcdroast that way. I have also done some experimenting with compiling sarge or unstable source packages under woody. There are separate dependencies for compiling and executing. Once you go down this road, you enter into the first circle of dependency hell, but for some packages it is not too bad. If you try to just install sarge or unstable binary packages, it will probably want to upgrade a lot of other packages including glib.
