[LUNI] One computer, one kernel, two consoles?

Okay, it's a crazy idea, but I think it would be useful if it's
practical to get it going. "Two consoles" is actually too specific:
what I want is a second X server, using a second video card, mouse,a nd
keyboard. The closest I've found is... well, it sounds like he's
actually done exactly what I want to do, but that was a couple years
ago and I'm hoping that it doens't take quite so much mucking about
with installing a second, non-standard X server and all that:

In particular, my plan is to use a regular PS/2 k&m with the primary
video for one server (that's setup and working on a testbed box); the
secondary k&m would be USB devices, and that's been interesting. At
one point I (or the hotplug manager?) had them both working in
*parallel* with the PS/2 devices. Later I got the USB mouse separated
and apparently working (as far as getting a stream of gibberish out of
/dev/input/mouse0), but the keyboard don't do nothing. So something
more easily understood than grokking the USB HID subsystem but more
useful than the USB keyboard docs I've found so far would be useful,
too.
Thanks!

One lesson I've learned from my years as Linux's hood ornament is that
there's something worse: some folks can't be content to just take things
too seriously on their own. They're not happy unless they can convince
others to go along with their obsession. -- Linus
