| | | I've further checked and
| | |
| | | vga=773 yields 128 characters x 48 lines on my laptop which has a max
| | | resolution of 1024x768
| | | vga=775 yields 160 characters x 64 lines on my server which has a
better
| | | monitor and video card
| | |
| | | I tried the vga=ask option and don't remember seeing an option for 160
| | | characters x 64 lines, this I don't understand. I also am assuming the
| | | 773 & 775 are octal not hex.
| | |
| | | I'll reboot and check again.

| The "vga=ask" suggestion offers a choice of 80 characters per inch by
| various lines per inch. The screen used is only the the lines selected
| when the option is entered at the "ask" prompt.
|
| This option works but not recommended.
|
| I agree with the above comments about "vga=773" and "vga=775".
|
| The LUNI mail list recommended "vga=791" which seems to be the same as
| "vga=773"
|
| The "vga=773 or 791" is very readable and gets the job done as far as I am
| concerned.
|
| Thanks for all of the comments
