Okay, I can get sound using gnome but not using artsd for KDE apps
$ artsd -l0 -F10 -S4096
artsd version is 1.1.2
gsl: using Unix98 pthreads directly for mutexes and conditions
addDirectory(/usr/lib/mcop,)
addDirectory(/usr/lib/mcop/Arts,Arts)
addDirectory(/usr/lib/mcop/Arts/Environment,Arts::Environment)
addDirectory(/usr/lib/mcop/Noatun,Noatun)
addDirectory(/home/mngarimu/.mcop/trader-cache,)

I'm using an Aureal Vortex 8810.
The unix socket exists at the location listed but netstat -ap shows
nothing listening on that socket.
artsd stays "running" but kaboodle fails to play anything without any
warning/error. Starting noatun fails with
First Dialog: "Connecting/starting aRts soundserver failed. Make sure
that artsd is configured properly"
Second Dialog: "Sound server fatal error. AudioSubSystem::handleIO:
write failed.
len = -1, can_write = 4096, errno = 11 (Resource temporarily
unavailable)..."
There really isn't much in the aRts FAQ or on google that has helped
either.
