By not promoting the idea that "this doesn't really matter" (it does matter) and
"we'll always have FreeBSD even if they destroy Linux" (which may well NOT be true).

In short, ceasing to live in denial would be a positive first step.

Ceasing to encourage others to live in denial would be an excellent second step.

Getting the word out to the less technically savvy (those that only see SCO's
press releases and drive up the already overly-inflated stock prices) would be a
constructive third step.

Mostly what those of us with no power to directly affect the case can do is to
stop spreading erroneous memes like the aforementioned ("it doesn't matter,
we'll always have X") and start spreading more useful memes ("this is an
atrocity that must be resisted.  If all I can do is speak out about it, then
speak out about it I will do").
