I have a linksys firewall/router as well, using Earthlink/Mindspring DSL w/
PPPoE and although mine doesn't seem to drop packets, it does timeout my
connections after about 5 minutes I've noticed. This is pretty annoying since
I do a lot of remote work over ssh. I haven't quite spent the time to figure
out how to stop it from doing this, but you might be having the same problem
with yours.
