Yes, the 5000d/5500 had serious battery life issues.  I've got a 5600 
here for testing (I'm overdue to write a review of it, I need to do that 
tomorrow...) and the battery is MUCH better.  The new memory 
architecture is interesting as well.  Definitely worth a look.

The catch is that while the software has improved, I still feel that 
OpenZaurus is a much better software system.  I don't know if they've 
got that working on the 5600 yet, though.  It's been a while since I 
checked.
