In the short term, gains for Java and Sun are good. But we must always remember to keep our eyes on the big picture...Java is only _mostly_ Open Source, and Sun is still making a lot of money selling servers to run a closed-source OS...they may be our allies-of-the-moment in the battle against Microsoft, and one hopes they can eventually be brought on-board as full partners, but they're not there yet, and we can't afford to start looking at them as a savior. After all, there was a day not all THAT long ago, when IBM was the Big Bad Enemy and any company that humbled them in the market (like...well... Microsoft) was considered laudable. -- Matthew Landry mbl at lelnet.com O- LEL Network Services Anti-Stupid Talisman "You don't have to outrun the bear. Just outrun the slowest hiker."
