Well, maybe.  The whole line distance thing seems to be a little
imprecise, and they won't have a really solid number until they do a
physical test - which isn't going to happen until you actually order,
as I understand it.  If you've only talked to SBC, you just might
benefit from trying whatever non-monopoly options might be available. 
Then again, you may be downstream of hardware that simply doesn't
support DSL.  :-(

That's like asking what speed 802.11b is "really".  Wireless has a very
different balance of strengths and weaknesses than DSL, and certainty
of effective link speed is not where it's best. ... I started to type a
bunch of guesses, but heck, don't guess, call them and see what they
have to say.
