[LUNI] xp/grub destruction

If your administrator account (not the account named Ron that has admin
privileges) has a password attached, everything is going to be just fine.
If you boot from your original Windows XP CD, you have an option at the
initial screen to boot to a recovery console. One of the options is to
repair the mbr or master boot record. Run this command, and it will
overwrite grub, and fix your bootloader error. Your machine should then
boot right into Windows.

BTW, this is probably the only reason I prefer LILO over grub. If you
delete, break or somehow do anything to your linux install, lilo still boots
happily into Windows, or any other operating systems you have installed...

Subject: [LUNI] xp/grub destruction

I "had" a dual boot machine till about 15 minutes ago (XP and RedHat). I
was running out of room on my 9 gig scsi when my other hald said she
needed more room. So being the nice guy that I am (and there was nothing
really important on the Linux partitions), I used XP's repartition tool.
No problem, Linux gone. Then I start to be creative and see why one of my
linksys routers was acting wierd, and decided to reboot after failing
using ipconfig. Grub sticks its head up and now I can't boot into XP.

Since I have never had any "major" admin duties before, any idea on how to
save Bill?

I wish "my other half" would switch to Linux :(.

1) I assume Grub is still there since the screen shows Grub and some
commands (none seem obvious to me).

I will continue this battle after work tomorrow, but "the other half"
needs it fixed now. Any ideas?

Thanks
Ron
ps. sorry for the half Linux post :(
