No problemo.  The cut-down network install CDs (and in fact all the
official CDs, I believe) have multiple kernels available - the "use
disc X for kernel such and so" is only about which one is the default. 
At the syslinux bootprompt, type "bf24" and hit the enter key (or type
bf24 instead of "linux" plus whatever options your install needs). 
It's explained in one or another of the help screens available during a
syslinux boot by pressing the function keys.
