I overdeleted and lost the message (I think yours) asking how to find an
Orinoco card. Orinoco was bought by Proxim. Check this out for leads:
I haven't used them with linux, but under Windows, Orinocos haven't let me
down. However, I recently got a Proxim/Orinoco b/g card (all of the others
are b only), and the reception (without an external antenna) doesn't seem as
good as the old Orinocos. The new card has a slimmer profile, lacking the
bump of the old cards, so I don't know if they scaled back the internal
antenna or what. At home, I had no problems connecting with my AP down in
the basement. Since getting the b/g, I've had to move the AP up to the main
floor (where most of my laptop, thus wireless, computing is done). YMMV.
Modeling paged and segmented memories is tricky business.
