Yeah, I looked at AFS and a couple of the other disconnected filesystems
at the time. None of the implementations I found were very mature (read
moderate chance for serious side-effects such as file corruption) so I
decided against them. Googling for info on it showed installation and
troubleshooting were rather involved as well.
