Greetings,
I'm involved in several organizations... NPOTechs.org, AFCN.org,
CTCNet Chicago, and working with several others, CDS (Community
Development Society), RTC (Rural Telecommunications Congress),
as well as efforts to organize a statewide community technology
policy group for Illinois, and another multie-state midwest
policy and professional development collaborative.
I can't speak to committ all of these organizations, naturally,
but these several organizations are putting together various
conferences, and for the organizations not exclusively focussed
on Illinois we're interested in getting them to hold future
conferences here. (Of course the Illinois groups have their
conferences here, naturally.)
What I would like to explore is the possibility of joint
conferences, and involvement from different segements of the
Open Source community in any of these conferences.
My logic is that through a conference that joins several
different sectors that confront ICT matters there is something
more dynamic, and a chance for new combinations and
opportunities should emerge.
In particular, I think there is room for the Open Source
community to demonstrate the value of our approach to people in
different sectors.
So, if anyone wants to discuss further, email me off list.
Regards,
Michael Maranda
