I'm pretty sure you're ok without a rack, but I don't know for certain.
Although I'm not sure about depth, you might want to look at music
equipment racks.
e.g.

They have 2-6 space rack equipment intended for effects processors and
pre-amps and things like that for guitarists. I think they are standard
19 in racks though.
