I'd suggest using LDAP, RH comes with pam_ldap and nss_ldap already in it, 
there's a bunch of resources out there, probably start at padl.com. The 
easiest way to get your users sorted for now, is do all the chowning and 
editing of UID's as suggested by others.

If you're a real glutton for punishment, you can do man exports and read 
about UID mapping, and see if that suggests a solution to you. Me, I'd 
finx the UID's manually and go with LDAP.

Hi,

I have a couple of boxes now, and I'm using NFS.  I have overlapping sets 
of
users from box to box, and I created my users in different orders; so now 
no
UIDs match up from one box to the other.  this is making using NFS sorta
difficult.

Can someone suggest how I can synchronize the UIDs?  I know to keep the
boxes synched as I add more users, I have to use something like NIS, but 
how
do I fix the current UIDs?
