[LUNI] Postfix and Mailman and aliases, Oh my!

I've been trying to setup Mailman on my home server. Here's the skinny:
garfieldtech.com : Debian Sarge, at home
lists.garfieldtech.com : CNAME to same
Server is running Debian Sarge, Postfix, Courier-IMAP.
Installing mailman went fine. I was able to create my desired list, get its
web configuration, and subscribe people manually.
However, people can't subscribe themselves to the list. All of the aliases
for listname-subscribe@, listname-help@, etc. aren't working.
I have confirmed their presence in /etc/aliases, and
in /var/lib/mailman/data/aliases. I've run /usr/lib/mailman/bin/genaliases
and /usr/bin/newaliases. I've restarted postfix and mailman. Still nothing.
/usr/lib/mailman/bin/postfix-to-mailman.py has instructions on how to hook up
postfix and mailman using a dedicated domain, such as lists.garfieldtech.com.
Great. That would be even better than putting it all on the same domain. I
followed those instructions and broke postfix. It wouldn't even start. I
then undid those instructions. :-)
I'm at a loss here. What's misbehaving? Why aren't the mailman aliases
hooking up properly?
Any help greatly appreciated.

exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an idea,
which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to
himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession
of every one, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it." -- Thomas
