[LUNI] Does Apache 2.0 need perl mod?

Dumb question here, but I have an apache 2.2
webserver and am trying to get perl cgi scripts
to run.

Whenever I try to build mod_perl, it tells me
that it is only for Apache release 1.

Is perl cgi built into Apache 2, or is there
another version of mod_perl that I need, or
how does one make cgi's run in Apache 2.

(I am familiar with how to get it to run in
Apache 1.)
