You just need to buy/make an xbox controller port to usb adapter. (the game
controller ports are actually USB).

I just hacked up a controller extension cable and soldered it to the female
half of a usb extension.

BTW, I run Xbox Media Center on mine (not linux) for all my video / music /
ftp on my home theater. I also still find time for a game or two. The
(modded) xbox is a great small form "pc" for media center / home server type
activities.
