Flash introduced an autoaupdate feature late in 7 or early in 8 which is 
why they are moving much faster on versions these days. Also they needed 
Flash 9 to be released so they could start pushing flex and the latest 
action script.

Ny the time they decided to do another Linux version it made sense to go 
straight for 9 rather than attempt to do an 8 version.
