client is looking for Linux and UNIX Administrators ASAP!  Please

System Administrator 


Linux SA - 5 years experience with Redhat / SUSE Linux. Strong working
knowledge of the RedHat / SUSE Linux OS, Veritas Clustering, RPM and
Veritas Volume Manager.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties/Project: 
* Develops Linux solutions in support of applications development
projects
o Defines technical architecture for Linux systems
o Performs acceptance testing of hardware and software solutions
o Conducts project system design reviews
o Studies vendor products and makes recommendations to management based
on the needs of the company and the ability to integrate with existing
systems
* Provides support for SUSE Linux hardware and software technologies
o Monitors daily operations of server environment
o Installs, configures, and maintains servers
o Analyzes and coordinates resolution of server-based problems.
Interfaces with vendor support groups and other departments to ensure
proper escalation and coordination towards problem resolution
o Interfaces with Storage Management, Capacity Planning, Distributed
Infrastructure Services, Operations, and Coverage groups as required
* Provides support for Linux server application development activities
o Creates application development environments for development, staging,
and production
o Develops server standards and ensures application development groups
adhere to standards
o Participates in production implementation planning, including
scheduling and development of associated implementation processes
o Performs copies, moves, etc. of application components during
application development production implementation
* Works closely with application development business area management
and staff on server configurations and network design
* Establishes hardware and software standards - evaluation, selection,
and certification
* Develops, publishes, and maintains documentation related to projects,
hardware and software configuration
* Prepares status reports and problem summaries as required
* Requires individual to carry pager - will be expected to work
non-business hours to resolve production problems and perform scheduled
off-hour activities


Required Work Experience:
* 5-7 years experience with Redhat / SUSE Linux 
* Strong working knowledge of the following:
o Unix operating systems, specifically RedHat/SUSE Linux
o Unix clustering technology, specifically Veritas Clustering
o Linux software distribution and recovery tools, specifically RPM
o Linux disk management tools, such as Veritas Volume Manager


Require : Experience connecting to a SAN environment
* Working knowledge of the following:
o Networking topologies and associated protocols (TCP/IP), specifically
NIS, NFS, and DNS
o Database Management software, specifically Oracle
o Storage subsystems hardware and software, specifically HP/HDS storage
subsystems, Brocade switches
o Firewalls, load balancers, web server, middleware technologies,
specifically iPlanet , WebLogic, Tuxedo, MQ Series, and Java.
* Familiarity with systems management technologies and product solutions


Required Education:
* BS or BA in computer science or related field

Languages: Java, Shell Script, C/C++

Design Tools: 

Other: LVM, VxVM, Sun N1 Grid, Veritas Cluster Server, Zen Linux
