IMHO the lack of root is a better defense against me. I've never been
hacked and have only seem virae and spyware a few times (on my windows
machines), so most of the 'cost' of those is in my efforts to prevent
them. OTOH I've personally destroyed my Linux installations several
times. I like that *I* am the biggest threat to my systems, at least
until the kids get older.
