Hmmm.  Maybe I've been installing too many times lately (I've started
playing with server consolidation and it's been an excuse for some
experimentation).

I think you're mistaken - I remember trying to pipe something into less
and finding it wasn't there, but more was.  Or was that one of
busybox's many aliases?
