[LUNI] NIS/Wordpress / LDAP

I have an NIS network setup at work.  *pause for the shivers and
screams to subside*

So, my current dilemma is that I need wordpress to authenticate
against NIS.  Has anyone ventured into those dangerous waters?   Is it
feasible?

Also, has anyone done an NIS to LDAP Migration?  I've only attempted
to run LDAP once and I had issues with permissions and a few other
newbie issues.  It still seems to be the better choice and the defacto
choice for Centralized authentication in Linux.
