You can't host it internally? You're best bet is to make sure you're
getting Mediawiki 1.9, and that it's been setup for that. Unfortunately,
the functionality it sounds like you want really isn't built in yet.

I host several wiki's here at work, and this has been a constant battle
for me - the software just isn't there yet, and the wiki people don't
seem to care. Expect that you'll need shell access, and you'll be hand
editing files.
