Having lived through having my DSL provider bought by someone
completely different before, I'm cautiously hopeful. The service
originally contracted from Telocity continued to work very well right
up until DTV decided to get out of the DSL game altogether - an outcome
that seems rather unlikely in the Speakeasy/Best Buy situation, at least
in the short or even medium term. (my memories are vague, but IIRC DTV
was really interested in other parts of the assets it got from Hughes,
and Telocity's DSL wasn't something they were really interested in,
no? Even so, it continued to be fine service for a couple years.)

So, yeah, I'm a little worried about the potential for gold-egg-laying
goose killing, but it seems unlikely to happen soon, and besides, wtf
can we do about it? Waiting is...

...and besides, maybe wimax will actually turn out to be a viable radio
WAN for general use, unlike previous belly flops. Or maybe the horse
will learn to sing.
