[LUNI] Quick question on how to pronounce something

I always pronounced the first "A" as Ah (like father) so I say SahTah. 
I have heard others pronounce the a as you do.  I know Canadians tend to
do this to vowels (ask a Canadian how they pronounce Linux and it sounds
more like Lie-nucks.
