speed limit shouldn't be an issue since i currently have 6Mbps service
with Comcast and will have 4Mbps with WOW.  if that's not fast enough
i can bump it back up to 6Mbps since they offer it for a bit more.

i've paid for that CM three times over now in lease fees :)  although
i agree that Comcast may want it back.  but i have the backup in case
they do ask for it when i cancel on Sat.  using the new CM with WOW
should just be a service call and MAC address registration.
the new modem is DOCSIS 1-2.0 compliant so it should be fine...
