Some of the newer enclosures do USB, Firewire and e-SATA. The e-SAtA will give better performance than the USB. You?may need to get an e-SATA card if it is not on your system. A lot of newer systems have it built in. You just need to verify that the e-SATA card will work with your operating system.

I think these pretty much just work. They all get presented as a usb
disk to the system. All the ones I've had or come across have worked
without problems.
