[LUNI] MP3 players in Linux

I've been out of town, so just got this...
 
gtkpod and Amarok both run iPods VERY nicely, no iTunes required, after you format the iPod as fat32 (I used a WinXP VM for the initial setup).

I asked the list a few months ago about MP3 players in Linux. I have
still not replaced my Walkman, but I got a $50 gift certificate from
Amazon, so I might take the plunge.

Did anybody get any players for Christmas? Any thoughts on them?

I looked at ubuntuforums.com, and I am leaning toward Cowon. But I
thought I would see what the locals thought.
