[LUNI] Firefox Behavior over ssh/X-Forwarding

okay... so for those not familiar with x-forwarding, a quick summary.
ssh user at host -Y (or -X) then running the command on the ssh console,
will forward any X11 requests to the current X server running locally
on my machine.
usually, when I run say xcalc on the remote machine, it runs the
remote version..and when I run xcalc in a local xterm, it runs my
local version.
If I have a current firefox session going, and I run firefox on the
remote machine, it simply starts up a new window of the version of
firefox I have running. Even if firefox at remote is 1.5 and the local
version is 3.0 it starts a new window of version 3.0.
I was wondering if anyone had any idea what's going on in the
background. Is it saving some kind of magic key that overrides the
default behavior?
