Depending on the end user control panel that your current hosting company
provides you with, you might be able to create a backup file of all of your
files for easy download. Then, it's a simple matter to re-upload that backup
file to the new hosting company and have the control panel restore the
backup. This is assuming both hosting companies use the same control panel.
I'm familiar with CPanel and know that this can be done. I'm not familiar
with any of the other control panels, so your milage may vary.
If the 2 hosting companies use different control panels, then your best option
would be to download the backup, uncompress it on your local computer and
then upload it via FTP/SCP/SFTP/etc. Assuming you have SSH access to both
servers, the best (and fastest) option is to create a tar.gz file and
transfer it directly to the new server.
One other option depends on your relationship with the old hosting company.
You could ask them for a backup copy of your files in your favorite
compressed format, download it and procede from there.
