Yes, that may be the case, but if we continue to purchase Windows-only capable hardware, there will be no incentive for hardware manufacturers to produce Linux-native capable hardware.

Native Linux support is not always necessary.  I have a Netgear card working fine with the windows driver and NDISWrapper.
