Hey all,

There is a new group launch in Chicago called the Chicago Nerd Social
Club[1].  This group is trying to make a non-threatening and fun
environment for nerds to hang out and socialize.  The Chicago Nerd
Social Club will host a number of regular events.  Some of these
events will be of a purely social nature for example, a casual get
together at a bar, a trip to the movies or a gaming night.  Other
events will be of a more informational nature like a trip to a local
museum, introductions to new technologies, or a comic book swap night.
Most events will be free or very inexpensive - there is no annual
membership fee.

They are having their launch party[2] at Risque Cafe[3] on May 7th.
There will be a small cover of $5 for the event.  They will have a
live band, I Fight Dragons[4], performing along with a nice
environment to socialize with fellow nerds.  I know I will be at the
launch party and I hope to see a bunch of people from the lug there as
well.

If you want to stay up to date with the Chicago Nerd Social Club you
can follow them on Twitter[5], @ChicagoNerds, or join their Facebook
Group[6].
