I installed a single line filter in the NID when I got DSL. The phone
side is spliced back into the original nest of wires and the DSL side
goes to a spare pair in the IW feeding the room where the DSL modem
lives. It has worked perfectly.
What is different about a "whole house" filter? Sounds like a rip off
to me.
