My $20/month webhost gives me squirrel mail and IMAP/POP access, with
instructions designed for musicians to be able to handle it. (ie, it's
written in plain English what to type, with no clutter)
Plus I wrote a PHP script to filter server-side, or at least using
their Gigabit connection in the racks, which is "close enough"
I'm happy with it. Not sure it's what you really want though...
I gave email addresses to my GF and her kids, to keep their email out
of my Inbox.
Actually, email TO the kids gets Bcc: to my GF, so she can monitor
who's sending what to them, but the kids don't know that. :-)
And I use a catch-all on my oldest account, so I can make up addresses
as I fill out webforms. When one of those starts getting spammed,
it's trivial to filter it.
Of course, that means I get 10s of thousands of junk emails to made-up
addreses, but the filters get 99% of that anyway.
