You read my mind. Just finished burning the 1010 version and not quite there yet in terms of the video.
I just made some space on the hdd and reinstalled XP, will run ubuntu in a VM until I can spend a bit more time trying to figure out what to do next. I may just buy the PCI-E version of the card and replace the V3400 with it. It seems ATI catalyst doesn't play well with the V3400 -and- the fp2260 at the same time

2+ years ago I had 3 monitors, in an L shape, different res on each:
1600x1200, 1024x768, 800x600 (yes.... card only had like 8mb.) all
different manufactures, all open source drivers, I think all stock
ubuntu. I think there was a limitation of they all had to be the
same color depth.
Then xorg changed from using their own pci lib an started using the
kernel's, which had a bug where secondary video cards would not be
initialized. The work around was to use all nvidia cards and all
nvidia binaries.
Then I packed up my system and moved. haven't unpacked it yet. Need
to refinish the floors first.
Back to the OP: I would pop in a 10.10 ubuntu cd and see what it
figures out. wouldn't surprise me if all 4 displays lit up.
